Scott Murray used to play on the Villa reserves. However,
all of a sudden, Brian Little needed a striker on the severely injury-hit first
team, and Scott Murray was among the starting eleven. He was later substituted
with Gareth Farrelly, but played an OK match. He was also among the starting
11 in the opening match of the 1996-97 season against Sheffield Wednesday, and
also here later substituted out for Julian Joachim. Since then, after Savo returned
from his injury, Murray wasn't seen on the bench much, let alone the pitch.
In December 97 he was sold to Bristol City, having never really gotten his chance
with Aston Villa. Such is the fate of many a trainee of top clubs.
