Peter Enckelman - Striker
|
This extremely talented Finnish goalie had no problem waiting for his turn. For the five seasons he was at Villa, he was always the reserve. Since Michael Oakes left, though, he was the goalie on the bench, match in and match out.
He was truly a great young talent, and therefore it is a bit unfair that most of England probably will remember him for his embarrasing spill against Birmingham, where he let a ball get under his boot and into the net.
Enckelman had been looking forward to becoming the team's first choice goalie after Peter Schmeichel, so when Thomas Sørensen replaced him, Enckelman knew that he would still be second choice, and he opted to leave the club for Blackburn.
