Julian Joachim - Striker
|
Julian was yet another player that Brian Little had under his tutelage when he was at Leicester. He signed for Aston Villa in February 1996. He was famed for his spectacular goals but also for various spectacular episodes outside the pitch.
He was given his debut for Villa on February 24, 1996 against Wimbledon, where he came on as a substitute for Savo Milosevic. He scored the first of 2 goals in the next match against Blackburn. However, the lack of first team appearances frustrated a player of Joachim's quality. He expressed his unhappiness with his benching, and several teams he showed interest in leaving. Brian Little was wise in holding on to him, though.
Late into the 1997-98 season, Julian got a few starts and did quite well, although he didn't increase his goal tally by much. However, he became known as the "super sub", having been brought on and scored on many occasions. The following seasons, Julian was a regular 1st team player, using his speed to score some incredible goals.
Julian left the club in 2001, returning to his old club Leicester.
Apperances has substitutions in brackets, i.e. the games when he came on as a sub and didn't start on the pitch. All the stats include cup games.
