Rampages Have a vehicle with you. Once you've mowed down everything in sight, it'll take a little while for the gang members to regenerate, and waiting for the paramedics to revive those you've already done in is a little too slow for my taste. Gang members pop up everywhere you go, so once everybody in sight are down, get into the vehicle and drive a 100 yards or so down a road. If no gangmembers are in sight by now, spin around 180 (or turn gently, if that's your style :-), and there's bound to be baddies somewhere. Also, have the "Shooter" side mission (not the same as "Shootist"!) completed, so that you can reload your weapons more quickly. Use the Rampages Map to assist you. The rampages can be divided into weapon types used. Mini gun: Keep your distance from your targets. Other than that, this should be pretty easy. Regular shotgun: The thing here is that people need to be shot twice to die, so get as many as they're down. Be sure to shoot people on the way over to you. S.P.A.S 12 shotgun: This one is a beauty, because you drop people with one shot, and it can fire continously without needing to be reloaded. Shouldn't be much of a problem completing these. Katana (Samurai sword): This is by far the most difficult rampages. Basically, try not to attack groups of more than 4 members tops. Also, your initial attack should be done from two or three steps away. The only leathal swipes are when Tommy runs them through or cuts their heads off, and the latter is quite difficult, so try to learn the distance to your targets that will make Tommy run them through. Keep some two steps distance - never use the sword standing right in front of your target. Flame Thrower: Gain a little distance from your vehicle when using the weapon, or it will catch fire. Remember that you can sweep the flame in order to hit as many as possible. As soon as they're done, get into the vehicle and find another group, since this is a heavy weapon! Sub-machine guns: Again, keep your distance. Rampage 25 is an extremely weak gun (I believe it's names the Tech 60), so take advantage of the fact that you can run while firing. Assault rifles (Kruger and M4): With these rifles, you can hit people at any distance, so always plug the nearest ones first. Bazooka: Distance is more than essential here. Keep at least ten steps away from any vehicle you shoot at, and if gangsters or cops get too close to you, chances are that you'll blow yourself up too, so have no cops or gang members nearby when you fire at vehicles. If someone comes running at you, be it cops or gang members, blast them immediately. You're practically invulnerable with the rocket launcher, and can take out a police helicopter with one shot if necessary, so don't worry about your wanted level while doing these rampages. When your missile hits a vehicle, look away immediately. This will make the wreck disappear, and new vehicles will be spawned when you look back. If you look at your target while it blows up, the game will pile up the wrecks, and if you have some three or four wrecks blocking the road, no new vehicles are spawned. Molotov cocktail: have the Fire truck Mission completed before doing these. Then it should be a doddle: sSimply engulf everything that opposes you in flames, and say something Clint Eastwoodish when they scream in agony. Hand Grenades: Never throw grenades at targets that aren't far away from you. Chances are that you'll throw it a little too short and get injured from the explosion yourself. Always keep a good distance and use your vehicle to generate more gang members once the ones in sight are blown up. Heavy machine gun: This one is a beauty. One shot will take out anyone at any distance, so this really should present no problem for you. Run-over rampages: Grab a BIG and fast car, preferably the FBI rancher, Gang Burrito or 4WD from Sunshine Autos. Also, remember that gang members are generated everywhere you go, so keep to the straight pieces of sidewalks. That way you can also gain good speed. Drive-by rampages: If you have trouble doing this from a car, get on a PCJ 600. That way you can also fire forward. Never slow down completely, since the cops can bust you that way. .357 six shooter: Here you'll learn to appreciate having completed the "Shooter" mission more than anywhere else. Essential thing: ALWAYS TAKE AIM before firing at someone. This gun fires very slowly, so if you miss too many people, they can get to you and start using your head for boxing practice. Sniper rifles: Having completed the "Shooter" mission is very handy here too, since you reaload much more quickly. Other than that, try to blow their head off. That way, paramedics will not try to revive them, and new gang members will be generated more quickly. Chainsaw: A vechicle is absolutely essential here. Once you've sawn the people in half, get into your vehicle immediately, and use it to drive up to the next set of gangsters. To saw them to death more efficiently, keep the button pressed and run into the group. One more thing: rampage 1 and 33 (the bazooka rampages) are easier if you get into your helicopter immediately and fly to where the road splits up right next to the super tanker in Eastern Vice Port. Here you'll get plenty of vehicles to shoot at. Alternatively, on rampage 33, fly northwest to the parking lot. There are some seven or eight cars parked there, which makes a fine start. :-) Reward: No reward awarded for completing all 35. |
